Jo Ann Stroope, 80, of Andrews went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, March 19, 2018 in Andrews, where she was surrounded by family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Larry Brewer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Jo Ann Stroope was born in Lamesa Texas in May 19, 1937 to William Carl Owen, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Poindexter and was the eldest of 6 children. She was raised in Lamesa and Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School. She attended Draun’s Business College for bookkeeping in Brownwood. She later raised 3 amazing children of her own, Leslie Joe, James Ray, and Dee Ann. On July 15,1975, she married Billy Cliff Stroope in Brownwood, with whom she shared 41 glorious years, before he went home to our Heavenly Father on January 6, 2016. They were lifelong residents of Brownwood and Andrews. While in Andrews, they were members of the Andrews Bowling Association, and she supported her husband in the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and the Andrews Mesquite Burners. She enjoyed camping, fishing, barbequing, listening to all types of music. She loved to paint flowers and sceneries, but most of all loved to spend time with her family. She was a member of City of Refuge Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, Wanda Masey and Venita Owen, and great granddaughter, Holli Marie Beth Jeffcoat.
She was blessed by her 3 children, Leslie Jeffcoat and wife, Margie, James Jeffcoat and wife, Dewana, and Dee Southern and husband, Steve, all of Andrews, 1 brother, Carl Owen and wife, Jan, of Lake Brownwood, 2 sisters, Tommie Davis of Brownwood, and Barbara Gotcher and husband, Rick, of Bangs, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
