Evelyn Hancock, of Andrews was reunited with Jesus on Monday, March 5, 2018 in Lubbock.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Friday, March 9, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Robby Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettrfuneralhome.com.
Evelyn was born on October 28, 1937 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Ellis Ray Alexander and Ruth Augusta Stevens. She was raised in Alamogordo and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1955. After graduation, she moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University. It was there she met the love of her life, Gary Duane Hancock. They were married on September 1, 1956 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Evelyn had worked for 28 years at the Andrews County Tax Office and retired as the County Tax Assessor. She enjoyed painting, collecting dolls, and traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, where she had taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 23, 2012, her parents, sister, Joy Waterfill, and brother, Benny Alexander. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She touched many lives and will be truly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Kevin Hancock and wife, Andrea, of Lubbock, grandson, Jordan Hancock and wife, Jordan, granddaughter, Rachel Hancock and fiancé, Sam, great grandson, Liam Hancock, 2 sisters, Carol Silva and husband, Sonny, of Andrews, and Kelly Alexander of Alamogordo, New Mexico and brother, Buddy Alexander of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
