Joy Dell Peeples, 87, of Abilene passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Abilene.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Kerry Pack of Andrews, officiating. Joy was born on June 19, 1930 in Altus, Oklahoma to Carl Dillard Stewart and Addie Traweek Stewart. She was raised in Altus and Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 1948. She married William Vines Peeples on December 21, 1951 in Andrews. She had worked as an insurance clerk for 16 years at Andrews Clinic. They had lived in Andrews, Robert Lee, Big Spring, and Crane, while Vines worked for Exxon. After his retirement, they moved to Lake Brownwood and then to Abilene in 1998. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Brownwood, and was currently a member of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene. She had been involved in WMU for those churches in Andrews and Brownwood. She enjoyed collecting old hats to wear, gnomes, and loved working in her yard. They had supported their grandson and soldiers during Desert Storm while in Brownwood. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 8, 1998, her parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Joy is survived by her 4 children, Betty Poorman of Abilene, Billie and Jerry Carruth of Andrews, Terry and Ursula Peeples of Lubbock, and Patti Tout and Jennifer Dupont of Hutto, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
