Alta Ivana Shortes, 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 21, 2018, Graveside in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Rev. Stan Brown officiating. Services are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home, Andrews. Alta was born on June 5, 1926 in Lamesa, Texas to Jim and Eunice Goolsby. She was the only girl of seven children. She married the love of her life, Levi Garrett in July of 1953. She was a bookkeeper and retired in January of 1981. Alta was a member of Andrews Church of God where she was a Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher, Adult Fellowship Director and a Christian Education Board member. She was also a member of Church of God, Granbury. Alta enjoyed sewing, crafting, eating out and visiting with family and friends. She loved travelling and went to all the fifty states except for Hawaii and Alaska. She is preceded in death by her husband Levi Garrett, son: James Wood, and brothers: J.L. Goolsby, Herman Goolsby, Leroy Goolsby,Junior Goolsby, William Goolsby, Donald Wayne Goolsby.
Alta is survived by her son: Billy Wood and wife Shirley, grandchildren: René Wood Morgan and husband Donnie, Larry Wood and wife Amy, and Shalena Wood Reese, great-grandchildren: Juliann, Joseph, Jeremy, Taylor and wife Andrea, Madison, Lanie and Lincoln, great-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Judah, and Elias, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
