Obituary for Dale Sarrels

Dale Sarrels
Dale Sarrels, 80, of Andrews, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 17, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell, Home Hospice Chaplain of Odessa, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Please celebrate his life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Dale was born on July 20, 1937 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Ralph Lemuel Sarrels and Esta Wilma Carter Sarrels. He grew up in Sayre, but moved to Odessa, Texas as a teen. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1955, where he was on the swim team. He was an electrician by trade for 37 years; working for Phillips Petroleum and REF-CHEM/Rexene Polymers in Odessa and Amerada/Hess in Seminole. He was also a skilled carpenter and loved to work with wood often building or remodeling. He loved to fish and hunt with his beloved brother, Curt, but his passion was for golf and boasted shooting an above average game. He could be found early mornings drinking coffee with his "buddies" swapping corny old jokes and stories. He always looked forward to holidays and birthdays as it was a chance to have all his "kiddos" in the same place. He was quick with a grin and everybody got multiples of his world champion hugs. He was a man who worked hard and loved his family dearly. He moved to Andrews in 1984 and married Barbara Ellen Hogue on March 17, 1984 in Andrews. He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Wayne Sarrels, brother, Curt Sarrels, great grandson, Gaden Allen Klein.

Dale is survived by his wife, Barbara Sarrels of Andrews, 4 children, Anita Harris and husband, David, of Odessa, Julie Goodson of Georgetown, Dee Stewart and wife, Phyllis, of Stephenville, and Tracy Spurlock and husband, Donald, of Andrews, 8 grandchildren, Austin Harris and wife, Shannon, of Odessa, Holly Barron and husband, Nate, of Round Rock, Delanie Storey and husband, Clint, of Georgetown, Darby Morenz and husband, Bryce, of Kyle, Barbara Klein of Andrews, Rachel Spurlock of Boerne, Harve Stewart and fiancée, Brittany, of Stephenville, and Philica Hupp and husband, Jordan, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, 12 great grandchildren, and nephew, Gary Sarrels of Michigan, first cousins, Rita Barton and husband, Lane, of Odessa, Dene Chrismon of Sayre, Oklahoma, Janet Schaef and husband, Joe, of Canadian, Texas, and Susie Anderson and husband, Stuart of Canadian, Texas, Aunt Faye Pearcy of Odessa, and Great Aunt, Georgia Anderson of Oklahoma.
