Cruz Vasquez Salazar, 80, of Andrews passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 NE Avenue K, in Andrews with Rev. Joseph Ogbonna, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Cruz was born on April 28, 1937 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Thomas Vasquez and Luz Morales Vasquez. She was raised in Ojinaga and El Mulato, and married Teofilo Montoya Salazar on August 3, 1959 in Ojinaga, Mexico. They moved to Andrews in 1989 from El Mulato. She enjoyed cooking and baking and will be remembered for loving and caring for her family dearly. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and was a very happy person. Her husband and her would love to visit El Mulato, Mexico, where they still had a home. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Consuela Acosta, Benita Baeza, and Elisa Quintella, and her brother, Martin Vasquez.
Cruz is survived by her 3 sons, Jose Salazar and wife, Juanita, of Andrews, Gilberto Salazar and wife, Cruz Elia, of Andrews, and Hugo Salazar and wife, Rebeca, of Andrews, 1 daughter, Elvira Luna and husband, Refugio, of Odessa, 1 sister, Margarita Montoya of Andrews, 2 brothers, Roberto Vasquez and wife, Rosa Elma, of Andrews and Juan de Dios Vasquez and wife, Lidia, of Andrews, 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
