Janie was born on July 11, 1943 in Knox City, TX to Blue and Savonne Giddens. She was the middle child (and the only one with green eyes) of six children, Sam, Don, Lee, Mike & Dorothy.
She graduated from Permian High School in 1961, in Odessa, TX. This is where she was first known as, “Gigi.” Many knew Janie as their sponsor, having celebrated 41 years of sobriety; she once traveled the country speaking at Alcoholics Anonymous events, she had also traveled with Betty Ford to many AA events. Her wit and humor was undeniable as was her love for Diet Coke, peanut butter crackers and Reese’s. However, her greatest love was being “Gigi” to her grandchildren. Janie was preceded in death by her son, Robert Green and her parents, Savonne Giddens, father Blue Giddens, and her beloved dog, Smokie.
She is survived by daughter and son in law, Ronnie & Tim Thornton of Del Rio, TX, her son Grady LeMond of Andrews, TX, four brothers, Sam and wife Cathy Giddens of Marble Fall, TX, Don and wife Minnie Giddens and Lee Giddens all of Greenville, TX, Mike and wife Linda Giddens of Bentonville, Arkansas; One sister, Dorothy Hinds of Texas City, Texas; five grandchildren Kilah & Patrick Flores, Katee & Matt Williamson, Reaux LeMond, Mikah and Cameron Hulan, and Taylor Green. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Timothy, Tate, Addison, Carleigh, Daulton, and Kolten, a special niece who was always by her side, Amanda Jane and several other nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that if Janie impacted your life in any way that you come prepared to share those memories during the celebration of her life.
