Barbara Russell, 82, of Andrews passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Brant O’Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 5 – 7 pm at McNett Funeral Home. Barbara was born on December 14, 1934 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Louis and Ruby Stanley Martindale. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin, Barbara moved to Andrews where she began her 30 year teaching career with Andrews IDS. In 1957 Barbara married Charles Russell and they had two children, Charlie and Joni.
Barbara devoted much of her life to watching her children participate in sports and traveling. One of her greatest passions in life was reading. Barbara loved the Lord and was a member of first Baptist Church in Andrews for over 50 years. She also served as a Pink Lady for 20 plus years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Charlie Russell in 2007 and by two brothers and two sisters.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles Russell of Andrews, a daughter Joni and husband J.V. McKinney of Andrews; grandchildren, Jarrod Johnston of Castle, Oklahoma, Jaclyn Ruiz of Andrews, Lindsay Day and Charlie Russell both of Albuquerque, New Mexico and seven great grandchildren.
