Jimmie Lu Kemp, 64, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Midland.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Pase officiating. Interment will follow at Andrews North Cemetery under the personal direction of McNett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, August11, 2017 from 6 – 8 PM at McNett Funeral Home. Jimmie was born on March 16, 1953 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Jack and Helen Harrison. She was raised in Pecos, Texas and graduated from Pecos High School. She started her teaching degree at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and completed it at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. She and her husband, Ben, were married on April 16, 1982. They moved to Andrews in 1984 and she began teaching for AISD as a Middle School math teacher. She loved teaching and impacted many students, encouraging them to push themselves. Jimmie and Ben were very active in Faith Lutheran Church. She will always be remembered as kind, loving, forgiving, and selfless who would always be there to help her neighbors and friends. Jimmie was also a member of the Secret Sister’s, a group of ladies who supported each other and traveled together with and without their spouses. Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nicole.
She is survived by her husband Ben, her daughter, Leelyn Bishop of Lubbock, and son, Blair and Kaylynn Kemp of Hobbs, 2 grandchildren, Tristan and Waverly Kemp of Hobbs, 3 brothers, Roger and Angela Harrison of Pecos, Jerry and Grace Harrison of Wink, and Glen and Karen Harrison of Sweetwater, 1 sister, Jackie Davis of Kerrville, 8 nieces and nephews, Kaci Hanson, Brandi Eakin, Jeremy Harrison, Jacob Harrison, Tatum Harrison, Kristen Taylor, Kaitlin Rhoades, and Jason Davis, and her 2 beloved dogs Angus and Murphie.
