Samuel G. “Sam” Morin, 62, of Andrews passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 29, 2017 at The United Pentecostal Church, 410 SW 2nd Street, in Andrews with Pastor James Linton officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Viewing will be on Friday from 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM and prayer services will be at 7:00 PM Friday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Sam was born on December 6, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Dionicio Esquivel Morin and Manuela Gonzalez Morin. He was raised in Eagle Pass, Texas and graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1971. He had worked for Yeager-Barrera funeral home, while in Eagle Pass. He moved to Andrews in 1982 and had worked for Kirby West Vacuum Plant for 34 years until he passed away. He loved to joke around and had a sense of humor. He never knew a stranger and loved to help people out. He will be known for always drinking coffee, watering his trees, flowerbeds, and yard, and loved the Dallas Cowboys. He will be remembered for his Jail ministry, where he would visit inmates from Andrews County Jail, and continued mentoring, corresponding, and financially assisting them while they were incarcerated. He was a faithful member of The United Pentecostal Church, where he loved to serve the church and the members. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Daniel Morin in 2013, and grandson, Angel Mata in 2002.
Sam is survived by his son, Sgt. Jose Antonio Morin and wife, Glinda, of Andrews; 3 daughters, Manuela Jimenez and Ray Lozada, of Midland, Iveth Soledad Morin of Andrews, Rocio Barrera and husband, Israel Porras, Jr., of Andrews; brother, Benjamin Morin, of Andrews, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
