Obituary for Guillermo P. Rodriquez

Guillermo P. Rodriquez
Guillermo P. Rodriquez, “Willie”, 81, of Andrews passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Midland.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mass at 10:00 AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 NE Avenue K, in Andrews with Rev. Joseph Ogbonna, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 AM – 9 PM and Sunday from 1 PM – 8 PM at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be at 6:00 PM Sunday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Please celebrate his life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Willie was born on June 25, 1936 in Sanderson Texas to Manuel Rodriquez and Luz Ponce. He was raised and attended school in Sanderson. When his father passed away, he began working on a ranch by the second grade. While working on the ranch they drove cattle, broke horses, and sheared sheep. This is where he learned how to be a true cowboy. He married Isabel Perez on July 28, 1955 in Sanderson, and later moved to Andrews in 1959. While in Andrews, he worked as a gang pusher for Stewart’s Welding for many years. His family remembers him as strong, humble, and content with life. He was a faith filled Catholic who was accepting of everyone. He was a life survivor, who was very creative and resourceful, and a jack of all trades. He was always ready with a saw and hammer for remodeling, building things, or the next project whether large or small. He loved woodworking, gardening, and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his family playing games like dominoes and bingo. He loved music, dancing, and traveling. His love for ranching carried through as he enjoyed western movies. He also enjoyed watching novelas with his wife Isabel. He approached life with a great attitude and could be found working hard and whistling. He had a passion for cooking. His specialties included brisket, deer steak fingers, and cinnamon rolls. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He was a great storyteller who often shared his past experiences with vividness. He was admired and respected by many and will be greatly missed. Most of all, he lived his life loving his wife of sixty-one years and his beloved family. He was an amazing man to all who were blessed to know him. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ruben Rodriquez, and 3 sisters, Maria Elena Valdez, Margarita Lopez, and Esperanza Saldivar.

Willie is survived by his wife, Isabel Rodriquez of Andrews, 11 children, Helen and Roman Diaz of Andrews, Anabelia and Richard Acosta of Elsa, Willie Jr. and Debbie Rodriquez. of Andrews, Cornelia Shryock of Andrews, Veronica and Anthony Rowell of Andrews, Rebecca and Jose Rogelio Rivera of Andrews, Viola and David Woods of Andrews, Amelia Rodriquez of Odessa, Cynthia and Allen Warren of Andrews, Rosie and Alvaro Rodriquez-Gonzalez of El Paso, and Jorge and Noelia Rodriquez of Andrews, 4 sisters, Santa Perez of Houston, Ersilia Aguerro of Andrews, Josie Cruz of Collins, Georgia, and Consuelo Rodriquez of Andrews, 30 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren.
