Johnny Estrada, 49, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in Odessa.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mass at 10:00 AM Friday, July 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Rev. Joseph Ogbonna, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Rosary services will be recited at 7:00 PM Thursday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Johnny was born December 21, 1967 in Lamesa, Texas to Edmundo T. Estrada, Sr. and Maria Cortez Estrada. He was raised in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 1986. Johnny started riding horses at the age of 7 and was a jockey and trainer since he was 12 years old. He had raced at many race tracks, including Ruidoso, Odessa, El Paso, Hobbs, and Fredericksburg. He had worked for Superior Welding and Stewarts Welding in Andrews for many years. He had met his wife, Stephanie Ramos Estrada in May 1997, and they were married on December 21, 2016 in Andrews. He was known to have never met a stranger. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. His favorite sports teams were the Washington Redskins and the Texas Longhorns. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Nolan James Lara in 2012 and brother in law, Silvero Ramos, Jr. in 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ramos Estrada of Andrews, 4 sons, Justin Bailey of Lubbock, Eric Estrada of Andrews, Ryan and Chelsea Lara of Andrews, and X-Zavier Estrada of Andrews, his parents, Edmundo and Maria Estrada of Andrews, 3 brothers, Ector Estrada, Eddie and Dora Estrada, Jr., and Ruben and Annabelle Estrada, all of Andrews, 1 sister; Susan Estrada of Odessa, father and mother in law, Silvero and Marie Ramos, Sr. of Andrews, 2 brother in law’s, Samuel and Rosa Ramos and Stanley and Lisa Ramos, all of Andrews, 1 sister in law, Silvia De La Cruz of Andrews, Johnny’s caretaker, Stephanie and Isaac Romero, of Andrews, and 5 grandchildren.
