Obituary for Lee Stokes

Lee Stokes, 60, of Andrews passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Odessa.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church, 311 NE 2nd Street, in Andrews with Rev. Les Hall and Rick Doyle officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Lee was born on April 9, 1957 in Dimmitt, Texas to Newell Baker Stokes and Ioma Ollie Page Stokes. He was raised in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1975. He moved to Amarillo, where he began his vocational training in refrigeration. He had worked for Furr’s Supermarkets in El Paso and Albuquerque. He married Melissa Ann Long on September 6, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have owned and operated Concept Refrigeration Company, since 1995, and they moved to Andrews in 1999 from Albuquerque. Concept Refrigeration Company has been their family business providing the highest standards in quality and integrity. They have specialized in supermarket and other commercial refrigeration, serving West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He has served as president and as a board member on the following committees, Andrews Golf Booster Club, Andrews Downtown Lion’s Club, Andrews County Junior Livestock Association, Andrews Economic Development Corporation, Means Memorial United Methodist Church finance committee, and an active supporter of the Andrews County 4-H. He enjoyed raising sheep, cattle, and goats with his children and attending livestock shows. He enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada and spending time with his friends on “Monday Night Poker”. He loved to play the game of golf and travel playing different courses with friends and family. He was a member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jordan Stokes, and 2 brothers, Ronny and Donnie Stokes.

Lee is survived by his wife, Ann Stokes of Andrews, son, Tanner Stokes of Andrews, 2 daughters, Stephanie Stokes of Andrews and Apryl Kennemer and husband, Chad, of Joshua, brother, Jim Stokes and wife, Bobbi, of Reno, Nevada, sister, Sue Hawkins and husband, Quincy, of Hart, mother in law, Helen Long, of Andrews, and grandson, Wyatt Kennemer of Joshua.
