Don Humphrey, 73, of Andrews passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 in Andrews.

Don was born on January 19, 1944 in Fouke, Arkansas to Elmer Morris Humphrey and Virgie Elizabeth Cornett. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1963. He attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls from 1963-1969 and graduated with a Bachelor of Education and received his Master of Education from University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa. He coached and taught school at Burkburnett Junior High from 1969 – 1972; Goddard Junior High in Midland from 1972 – 1977; and was the Midland High School Boys Basketball Coach from 1977 – 1980. He had served as the Assistant Principal at Abell Junior High in Midland, Assistant Principal for Midland High School, and Principal at Kermit High School until his retirement. He was a member of Texas State Teacher’s Association and Texas Principal’s Association. He also owned Donco Chemical Company from 1982 – 1990; had worked in sales for Process Chemical Company; and was known to be a great salesman. He loved basketball and was known to be an inspirational coach. He enjoyed the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, golfing, gambling, and the lake house at Oak Creek. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Holly McCoy Humphrey.
Don is survived by his son, Trey Humphrey of Hobbs, New Mexico, daughter, Christy Bright of San Angelo, brother, Mack Humphrey and wife, Karan, of Aztec, New Mexico, and 4 grandchildren, Michael and Kyler Bright, and Ryan and Karsyn Humphrey.
