James Carroll Wright, Sr., 90, of Andrews passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Odessa.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 14, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brant O’Connor officiating. James was born on May 26, 1926 in Gorman, Texas to Otis B. and Eddith Koonce Wright. While attending high school in Sundown, Texas in 1941, he met Juanita Ferguson. They were married in Clovis New, Mexico on April 10, 1944. James entered the Air Force in June 1944, after two years of service, they moved back to Sundown. James worked as Shop Foreman for Honolulu Oil Corporation, James was promoted to Production Foreman and transferred to Big Lake, Texas. Two years later James was transferred to Andrews. James and his father owned Wright Trucking Company from 1955 to 1965. In July 1958 James, formed Wright Well Service. After retiring from the well service business, he was a consultant for the oil and gas industry. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 1024, of Andrews, and was a Shriner. The family entertainment that James enjoyed was bowling and golf and he loved aviation. James and James Jr. played in the Andrews Father and Son Golf tournament for three decades. James served on the Andrews Appraisal Board and was past President of the Andrews Country Club, he had been active in many clubs and organizations. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Juanita Wright, and grandchild Kaitlyn Wright.
James is survived by his son, James C. Wright, Jr, and wife Cindy of Andrews; a daughter Debbie and husband Mike Gaston of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Kris Allen, Crystal Britton, James Wright III, Selen Dunn, Hayden Gaston, John Gaston, and Sarah Baugh, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and a niece, Patty Belisle, of Austin, Texas.
