Ruby Nell Greenhaw Woods, 86, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, June 16, 2017 at the First Christian Church, 1211 Hull Road, in Ruidoso, New Mexico with Rev. Matt Every, Pastor, officiating. Cremation was under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

Ruby Nell was born on May 21, 1930 in Tarzan Texas to Oscar Lawson and Ruby Pearl McNerlin Lawson. She graduated from Courtney High School in Martin County in 1947, and her class was the last class for Courtney High School before it closed. She won a state basketball championship that same year. She graduated from Texas Tech University, where she studied Accounting and continued her studies at University Texas of the Permian Basin. She loved to study and attend college and further her knowledge. She married J.C. “Smokey” Greenhaw on August 27, 1949 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on November 10, 1993. She had worked at the Lenorah Cotton Gin with Smokey, which they owned and operated for many years. She took care of the bookkeeping, but also helped run the gin, which included weighing, selling, and buying cotton. She loved playing and teaching bridge, where she earned her Life Master. Playing bridge allowed her to travel the world and play, and she had many bridge friends scattered across the country. She loved sewing, crocheting, and making quilts. She married Larry Woods in June 1998 in Ruidoso, New Mexico, and he preceded her in death in June 2014. She loved her lifelong friends from Martin County, but Loved the Village of Ruidoso where she lived for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She moved to Andrews in 2013 to be closer to her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, David Greenhaw on March 1, 2014.

Ruby Nell is survived by her son, Mark Greenhaw and wife, Kay, of Andrews, 2 grandchildren, Bailie Wells of Lenorah and Garrett Greenhaw of Midland; 3 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, Jared and Travis Rogers of Andrews and Kaylee Burzynski of Burnet; and 7 step great grandchildren.
