Wanda Lou Jeffcoat Donohoe, 81 passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Andrews, Texas.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Officiating will be L.D.S. Stake Presidency, Dr. Gregory Young, of Andrews. Interment will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sean Carruth, Jonathan Carruth, Charles Moyle, Donald Moyle, Doug Carruth, and Stuart Moyle. Honorary pallbearers will be the PRMC Pink Ladies Auxiliary. Wanda was born on November 20, 1935 in Scurry, Texas to Dillard Bruner Jeffcoat and Nina Mae Sigler Jeffcoat. She had attended schools in Klondike, Ackerly, Midland, and Abilene. She attended Harding Simmons University and Midland College. Prior to Andrews, she lived in various cities: Midland, Abilene, Sanderson, Colorado City, Stanton, Big Spring, Ackerly. Also, in New Mexico: Roswell, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Tejeras, Crystal. Also, in California: El Cerrito, Ft. Bragg.
Wanda was a working mother: Max Berman’s Dry Good Store in Colorado City, Johnson Variety Store in Midland, Woolen Hotel in Abilene, Midland Theaters in Midland, Thom McAnn Shoe Store, Midland Steam Laundry, Walgreens in Midland. She was a switchboard operation and school cafeteria worker in Roswell, NM. As an insurance clerk, she worked at various hospitals: St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, Midland Memorial Hospital and Parkview Hospital in Midland.
In 1974, Wanda was employed at the State of Texas Department of Public Welfare, which later became the State of Texas Health Department. Positions included AFDC, food stamps, social services, nursing homes, WIC program, and became the Doctor and Program Administrator. She was a member of the Texas Public Employees Association and Texas Public Health Association.
Her hobbies included meeting people, dancing, gardening, spring cleaning her home, interior decorating, eating chocolate pie, harvesting her pecan trees. In high school, she was involved in spelling bee, math contests, music recognition, volleyball, drawing portraits, and loved music and singing.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and her family have always been the most important parts of her life. On June 6, 1981, Wanda married Refus “Donnie” LaVerne Donohoe and they resided in Andrews, Texas. On June 8, 1982, their marriage was sealed for time and eternity in The Church of Jesu Christ of Latter Day Saints Temple in Meza, Arizona. Years later, they both served the L.D.S. church as missionaries in Crystal, New Mexico, to share the gospel with Navajo people. While serving the Church, she has been Relief Society President, Education Counselor, Secretary, Primary Teacher, and Sunday School Secretary.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband on December 31, 1997, her parents, and 2 brothers, Robert and Lloyd Jeffcoat.
Wanda is survived by 2 sisters: Nita Porter and husband, Verlin, of Midland and Cynthia Jeffcoat of Stanton. Also a brother: Keith Jeffcoat and wife, Shirley, of Midland. Also 4 daughters: Janet McGinn of Tucson, Arizona; Mary Scrivner of Andrews; Diane Moyle and husband, Stuart, of Fallon, Nevada; and LouAnn Carruth and husband, Doug, of Andrews. Also 2 sons: Carl Scrivner and wife, Kathy, of Houston and Weldon Scrivner and wife, Katrinka, of Abilene. Also 2 step-sons: Alan Harper and wife, Pam, of Thrapston, England and Charles Donohoe and wife, Tonya, of Corsicana. Also 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
