Harry Williams, 80, of Alba, Texas and formerly of Andrews, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Tyler.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Covington of Second Baptist Church in Andrews officiating. Harry was born on June 23, 1936 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Rufus Williams, Sr. and Ethel Wallace Williams. He was raised in Gilbert, Louisiana and attended schools there. He moved to Andrews in 1962 and married Shirley Nell Hester on July 16, 1966 in Andrews. He had worked in Andrews for Gist Well Service, DA & S Well Service, Small Fishing Tool, and G & L Fishing Tool. They moved to Alba for 15 years, where they enjoyed the lake life and fishing. Harry loved traveling in his motorhome with Shirley. He enjoyed yardwork, and loved watching sports. He was known by his family to be a hard worker and help lend a hand when someone needed it. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024 and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbert, LA and First Baptist Church in Andrews, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 23, 2012, by his parents, 2 brothers, J.C. and Shelby Williams, and by his loving blue heeler, Buddy.
Harry is survived by his 2 daughters, Vicki Mitchell and R.C. Murray of Andrews, TX, Tonya Morris of Black Mountain, NC, 2 brothers, Rufus Williams Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Quinlan, TX and Eugene Williams and wife, Sandra, of Minden, LA, 6 sisters, Louise Rowton of Jena, LA, Pauline McFarland and husband, Marshall, of Gilbert, LA, Maxine Calhoun of Gilbert, LA, Dorothy Smith of Gilbert, LA, Irma Cicet and husband, John, of St. Amant, LA, and Nettie Remore and husband, Danny, of Baskin, LA, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
