Obituary for Randall Lee "Randy" Peel

Randall Lee "Randy" Peel
Randall “Randy” Lee Peel, age 65, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas after fighting valiantly against the complications of a leukemia transplant.

Randy was born on August 23, 1951 in San Angelo, Texas to Kenneth Lee Peel and Sandra Sterlene (Stucke) Peel. He moved to Andrews in 1993, where he made his home in Andrews with his wife of 43 years, Darlene (Ellison) Peel. They were married on May 26, 1973 in San Angelo, TX. They have a son, Scott Peel, who lives in Louisiana, and works for C & J Energy.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday evening between 6pm and 8pm at McNett Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, in Andrews. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 1:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Andrews Church of Christ, 201 NW 2nd Street, in Andrews with Ministers Bill Welsh, Don Davis, and Leslie Boone officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. The family and close friends will be having a meal at the church before the service. Please celebrate his life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Randy grew up in Sterling City, Texas where he graduated in 1969 and then attended Angelo State University. He graduated in 1973 and began coaching at Miles, Texas. Over the next 20 years he would coach several different sports in Hermleigh, Three Way, Guthrie, Higgins, Rocksprings, and Grady ISD. He loved all sports but he truly loved golf!! His greatest joy was to get to watch the Andrews girls and boys play golf and especially win state. The last 10 years of his teaching career he taught math at Andrews High School. After retirement from teaching, he began working in the In-School Suspension department every other day for the school district. He was also Co-President of the Andrews/Gaines Retired School Employees Assoc. along with his wife.

Randy is survived by his wife, Darlene Ellison Peel of Andrews; his son, Scott Allen Peel and wife, Cindy, of Louisiana along with grandchildren Markie and Drew; his mother, Sandra Stucke Peel of Sterling City; his brother, Kenneth Lee Peel, II and wife, Renee, of San Angelo; niece, Amye Peel Cobb and husband, Michael, of San Angelo along with their children Lucy, Jacob, and Jace; niece, Cayla Freeman of San Angelo; nephew, Tyler Freeman of Austin; and niece, Megan Freeman Green and husband, Skyler, of San Angelo, and Brother In Law Darrell Freeman of San Angelo; and one very amazing great grandson Aiden. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Peel (age 18) on October 9, 1998, nephew, Aaron Peel; Randy’s dad, Kenneth Lee Peel; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Freeman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Randall Peel to the National Cancer Society at http://www.cancer.org/, Texas Retired Teachers Foundation, 313 East 12th Street, Suite 200, Austin, TX 78701, or to your favorite charity. I would also like to thank all the nurses, doctors, staff, and all extra support people from Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas that administered to, loved and supported Randy during his treatment process. May God bless you and keep you.
