Eva Lee was born June 1, 1924 in Anson, TX to James (Jim) Monroe and Mona Lee (McIlwain) Welch and was the oldest of 7 children. She graduated from Snyder High School in 1941. After graduation, she went to business school in Abilene and became a secretary at the airbase in Carlsbad, NM, where she met the love of her life. Because of WWII, she had to get special permission to quit her job, so she could marry him. She married J.G. Burnett on March 29, 1944 in Carlsbad. She was married in a light blue dress, because white fabric could not be found due to the war. They moved to Andrews in 1963 after purchasing a farm southeast of town. She worked as a seamstress, a baker, a homemaker, a gardener, and a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, baking, going on family campouts, and working her word finds. She loved time with family, and adored playing with her four-legged companion, Macie. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.G. on November 16, 2005, her parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 son in law, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great grandson.

Eva Lee is survived by her children, Sue Penny and husband, Glenn, of Andrews, Charlotte Ramsay of Andrews, Belinda Hall and husband, Mark, of San Marcos, Weston Burnett and wife, Debbie, of Andrews and Velon Burnett and wife, Martha, of Houston; her siblings, Billy Welch and wife, Katherine, of Amarillo, Charles Welch and wife, Katherine, of Lamesa, Tommy Welch and wife, Nell, of College Station, Jimmie Sue Folmar of Denver City; brother in law, Ronnie Stone of Lubbock; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
