Sharon O’Dell, 77, of Andrews passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 in Odessa.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 NE Avenue B, in Andrews with Rev. Les Hall and Dr. Brian Gordon, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Sharon was born on March 27, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to Dr. David Woodrow Leach and Kathleen Gibbs Leach. She was raised in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School. She married Gordon Ray O’Dell on August 29, 1956 in Odessa, and they moved to Andrews in 1964. She raised their children while continuing to achieve her Bachelor’s degree along with her Master’s degree at Sul Ross State University in Alpine. The majority of her career was teaching at Andrews Independent School District, while continuing to raise 4 children. She dedicated her life to teaching generations of children and was an active member of her community and Means Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an amazing wife and mother, and she inspired her family to be loving, giving, and faithful. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Leach.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon O’Dell of Andrews, 4 children, Debbie Munsell and husband, Scott, of Wells, TX, Kim Christian and husband, Jimmy, of Andrews, TX, Kelli Harmon and husband, Mike, of Andrews, TX, and David O’Dell and wife, Kandra of Robert Lee, TX, sister, Nancy Bayless of Phoenix, AZ, 9 grandchildren, Katie Munsell, Laura Munsell, Tyler Christian, Callie Robles, Whitney Turnacliff, Kassie, Kyla, Kari, and Denver O’Dell, and 6 great grandchildren.
