Iva M. Chapman, 83, of Odessa passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 in Odessa.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Andrews Church of Christ with Larry Sims and Tim Halstead, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home. Iva was born on July 27, 1933 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Lewis Mike Blair and Thelma Mae Sims. She was raised in Brownfield and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1952. She was in the first graduation class for Angelo State University, where she received her Bachelor’s in Education. She married Ramie Lee “Raymond” Chapman on November 18, 1960 in Odessa. They lived in Alaska for 10 years, where she taught school in Soldotna and Kenai for 6 years. They moved to Andrews in 1977 from Brighton, Colorado, and she moved to Odessa to live with Robbie and Cinda in 2008. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ and attended New Life Church in Odessa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on November 6, 2001 and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Cinda Brown and husband, Robbie, of Odessa, brother, Willard Blair and wife, Georgette, of Carlsbad, NM, 4 grandchildren, Joshua Brown of Odessa, Christopher Brown of Midland, Traci Hoerauf and husband, Mat, of Odessa, and Tara Holder and husband, Brandon, of New Braunfels, 2 great grandchildren, Dravyn Brown of Midland and Kristen Holder of New Braunfels, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
