Vera Blanche Ulan resided in Midland but was formerly of Andrews, passed away just shy of her 92nd birthday on Tuesday September 20, 2016 in Midland.
Her family will gather to celebrate her life, September 23, 2016 at Graveside in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Billett, BCC of Midland officiating. Services are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Vera was born September 29, 1924 in White County, Arkansas to Jack and Grace Ramsey Smith. She married the love of her life, James Thomas Ulan on February 15, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband James, a great granddaughter Tatum Thomas, 2 sisters Valrie Fason and Lovie Stone Whitley.
Vera graduated from Lamar University where she proudly played on their winning basketball team. She worked as an X-ray technician for Permian General Hospital, she retired in 1985. Vera liked to play cards and dominoes; she loved her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by 1 son, Mike Ulan of Hamilton, TX; 2 daughters, Deborah Martin of Andrews, Karen and husband James Thomas of Midland; 1 sister, Jo and husband Bill Rollins of Conway, AR; 6 grandchildren, Shanon Martin and husband Brian Jefcoats of Andrews, Tres Thomas of Midland, Robin Martin and husband Jason Harper of Andrews, Jarod and wife Paige Thomas of Midland and 7 great grandchildren.
