Roberto P. Alaniz, Sr., 83, of Andrews passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Midland.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the La Nueva Jerusalem Church, 2535 NW Mustang Drive in Andrews, with Pastor Isai Garcia, officiating. Roberto was born on December 22, 1932 in Sanderson to Manuel Alaniz and Marcelina Postas Alaniz. He has lived in Andrews since 1963, and worked as a backhoe operator for Pete Moore, Poole’s Welding.He traveled the country shearing sheep, repaired small engines, loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and college football and baseball, and visit with his friends at the Andrews Senior Citizen Center.
Roberto is survived by his 3 sons, Roberto “Bobby” Alaniz, Jr. and wife, Sylvia, of Andrews, Rene Alaniz of Andrews, and Roger Alaniz and wife, Martha, of Fort Worth; 2 daughters, Cori Pena and husband, Ruben, of Midland and Crissy Begay and husband, Darren, of Farmington, NM; 2 sisters, Graciela Balles of El Paso and Armenia Luna of Midland; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
